Things to keep in mind: every choice on this (especially) long list is made just for you with no attention to what brands or retailers may offer a commission. Please know that when you are ready to buy, it's very helpful if you click through from this list as Poplin may receive a commission on your purchase. Those commissions allow Poplin to charge a lower price per hour while creating wishlists. Thank YOU.
First up, a go to pair of earrings. Mixed metals are a dream as they bring together disperate pieces you already own that may be of varying types of metal. Plus, they elevate your look without needing to match anything in your outfit specifically. UK retailer Oliver Bonas is a superb resource for accessories and clothing. These are under $20!
Your love of 60's mod fashion and your triangle shaped figure means that you absolutely must have a bold swing coat that is vintage inspired and in a color that brings you joy. Drawing the eye up top is flattering for your figure and a-lined coats give you flexibility for movement, too. I scoured the internet for said coat and these are my favorite options. Choose the color that works best for you or hold off until you see another coat in a similar shape. This gets more challenging as the weather warms up. But, because you run cold, it's likely you'll be wearing these later in the season.
Yes, it's an investment piece, but are you kidding me?! It's everything. It's flattering for your shape, has a major impact and is actually pretty timeless. Feel free to toss a sweater over top and transform it into a skirt for more wear. In the colder months, wear it with tights and your Dansko boots or the shoes on this list. In the warmer months, try a bare leg and strappy sandals. Lafayette 148 pieces are great for curves and this is also stellar with a jacket layered over top (leather, blazer, denim, etc.).
You'll get miles out of some comfortable flats and it's vital that you have a pair that are stylish, polished, anti-frumpy. These Naturalizers work with pants, skirts or dresses. Opt for whatever color appeals more to you.
You can never go wrong with a Breton tee. They are flattering for your body type, balancing out your frame and totally in line with your style. Plus they are uber practical as the classic cut and print last for years. Think Audrey Hepburn. I love these with skinny black pants and a bold swing coat. All you need are the sunglasses to seal the deal. And, you can layer your Uniqlo long sleeve layering tee (or an REI equivelent) underneath to stay even warmer.
Speaking of high rise skinnies, here they are. A higher rise means that you will avoid muffin top- these act like a shaper keeping your figure in. Plus a legging jean will fit your curves really nicely and avoid a gap.
You adore your Danskos and you may just end up rolling with those. But... I wanted to give you some other options with a similar vibe. As I mentioned, the Coclicos are an investment- but I think they are worth it as they are super comfortable and polished. They communicate your vibe and elevate your look. The other brands below are definitely worth a visit. Why? Well, because they have a wide variety of colors, styles, heel heights and more. In the case of Magubas, for instance, you can choose from a variety of different finishes on the wood, different heels, an array of colors and all sorts of open and closed styles of sandals, clogs and boots.
Another trick for mixing and matching is trying pieces that can act as signature pieces and work with a wide variety of outfits. This longer option is ideal for pieces that won't work with a shorter, bolder necklace.
Layering sweaters are always helpful, as I know you are well aware:) Both of these are available in a wide variety of colors and will ensure you stay stylish and warm. Specifically, layer them over a collared top and under a blazer or leather jacket. Or, layer them over a tee and under the same jacket. Or, put them over a dress to transform it into a skirt. I also like them under a sleeveless dress to add warmth and mimic a jumper. Feel free to toss a jacket over that combo for extra coziness.
An essential component of your more polished approach is the right collection of jackets. We're going for pieces that last for several years, are flattering for your frame, comfortable and work with your style. This blazer with a deep v neck shows off your slender top and works as well with jeans and a tee or Breton as over a print dress, jumpsuit or romper. Because you love black and white together, there are all sorts of pieces to bring that look to fruition. And, just add in color when and how you like.
Such a deal! Here's a super flattering, high waisted a-line skirt in vegan leather. The truth about vegan leather is that it's warm and ideal for rain. Yup. The water just beads right off of it. Try this with bare legs and your ankle boots or opt for the black flats on this list. Try it with or without tights depending on the temperature.
Geometric shapes are unexpected and this option from Oliver Bonas coordinates with a wide variety of pieces whether new or existing. Lightweight, interesting, affordable. Win, win.
I vote you have a pair of black shoes and a pair of white shoes. Throughout this list you'll see navy or black as the baseline for a look. In the case when black shoes won't work, white shoes will. They are hip, comfortable, modern and functional. I love them with the jumpsuit above and virtually any other jumpsuit, romper, dress on this list.
Personally, I'm all about earrings right now. These would look gorgeous on you and they work with your entire collection. It's the little things that accomplish so much. Just adding accessories into your look will earn you compliments and the crazy deals from this UK brand are fun to chat about.
Yes, I want you to rock the jackets more. But, I also understand that sometimes only a cardigan will do. Opt for longer v-neck options when you can. Navy is super practical and is anything but boring when paired with fun pieces from this list.
This makes me happy and makes me think of you. Don't worry about being cold. You can layer all of these and just remove the layers as the weather warms up and/or you are outside. This is oh so flattering for your frame and is just right with any of the jackets on this list layered over top. Then finish things off with flats, sandals or boots from this list. Any will do! Feeling bold? Toss your Breton tee over the top one day and finish things off with a white sandal. Yes. It's just right for the weekend. Hip, effortless, 60's inspired, interesting, and polished. It's an investment piece, but it's worth it. Buy the clothes then use them as an excuse to find somewhere to wear them. Everyday is a special occasion.
Just in case you forgot about them....
A ring is a great way to elevate your look without putting much effort in. This interesting piece works with everything and is affordable.
Let's use that Boden gift card, shall we? This sweater gives a nod to the 60's without being costume-y. Try it over a shirt with a collar or just a layering piece. It's fun with any of the pants on this list or try it with the vegan leather skirt and your ankle boots. Layer one of the swing coats over top.
These will look incredible on you, showing off your long legs and balancing out your frame.
You've got yellow shoes that you love and work with your existing wardrobe. Why not add in another pair that elevate your look and are true to your style without sacrificing comfort? After all, Eccos work for you, too:)
Modern color blocking that is reminiscent of the 60's mod look in a dress that is also flattering for your shape, comfortable and can be worn as a tunic. How about the orange one with white skinnies and yellow shoes? Or the pink and blue option with black skinnies rolled up and your ankle boots or black flats? Alternatively, try either with wide leg cropped pants (aka culottes) and a long cardigan. I like the orange dress with the navy long cardigan.
The right blazer is everything and this ponte option from Boden is it! Plus, in a very rare sale situation it is on sale for 50% off! Seriously. Stock up. The soft blazer is more casual and suits your lifestyle.
Get one before they are gone. Master the mod look with a black turtleneck and either black skinnies or white skinnies and one of the swing coats. Finish things off with a colored flat, a black flat or your ankle boots.
While we are on the subject, this navy mock turtleneck is super flattering, timeless and more stylized than a traditional option.
Tuck it into this navy skirt and if you are still cold, add a coat or jacket over top. One of the colored swing coats are glorious or you can even try a leather or vegan leather jacket. With a heavier coat or jacket, add boots. Sans coat, this can work with a clog or flats. Or try this skirt with the Breton tee and the white sandals. So many options!
I know it seems crazy, but it's actually crazy sexy cool.
And even cooler when you add on the leather jacket and sneakers. Or wear the jumper with tights and the black flats. Finish it off with the ponte jacket. More comfortable than a short dress, this shows off your great legs in an unexpected way thanks to this Australian retailer.
Fun, interesting and they draw the eye up which is flattering for your frame. Mix and match these with several outfits. They are lovely with the yellow shoes.
Jumpsuits may seem like a leap, but they are actually quite dreamy. This one is flattering for your figure and a lovely canvass for fun accessories. This looks stellar with any of the jackets on this list or the long navy cardigan. It's as easy as a dress, but keeps you warmer. Try it with leggings underneath to keep you nice and toasty in colder temperatures.
Thinking about how much you liked the orange and green outfit in the Poplin video, this tie neck blouse is your version of the green top. It works effortlessly with the bottoms throughout this list and very cool under any of the jackets (leather, ponte, etc.). Consider going for this instead of a standard long sleeve tee to elevate your look.
White jeans are essential. This pair from pilcro are flattering for your figure and look great with the top above, the leather or ponte jacket and the black flats. Or, try them with one of the shorter dresses and convert that dress to a tunic. Roll up the jeans to your ankles if the proportions don't seem quite right. Then, layer a jacket or long cardigan over top. I also love these with either of the swing coats on this list and clogs, flats, ankle boots.
Just in case you'd rather have a black coat than the colored options up top (or both) this is the way to go. Another a-line option, it's fun, true to your aesthetic and functional for years to come. Feel free to layer a down coat underneath for extra warmth in winter. Then wear it solo as the temperature rises.
Layer underneath for warmth and add tights or go with bare legs and add a blazer or leather jacket. So good.
You'll need a great v-neck tee. If you already have one, you are good to go.
High waisted shorts that show off your shape without adding bulk? Yes, please! Polka dots work well for your style. There's no need to tuck in your top. Just wear a tee and/or sweater and leave it untucked.
Wide leg pants are especially flattering and this tie waist option adds a feminine touch. Yes, you can wear them with sneakers, flats, clogs, platform sandals. They are actually quite a practical purchase.
A love it or hate it item, I couldn't help but include this vinyl coat from Topshop. Great for rain and for a vintage feel without the smell:)
Last but certainly not least, this tie waist top from Ann Taylor. There's no need to add a belt to show your waist. This long sleeve spring top can have a tank or layer piece underneath to keep you warmer. Try them with the trousers above, over the vegan leather skirt or with any of the skinnies. Relaxed and still very pulled together. The blue will be lovely with your eyes:)
And there you have it: a much longer list than normal. Enjoy it and let me know how it goes. And, please remember to click through from this list:) Thanks!
